Lucía Cristóbal Marín is an architect and interdisciplinary artist, and founder of ToDO Tambien a rchitecture and self-development real estate studio, and co-founder of the art and research group TONDOsmiling. Her work has developed at the intersection of architecture and art.
Lucía Cristóbal Marín holds a Fine Arts degree from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), is an interior architect trained at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM), and an architect from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste (ADBK), where she studied under the renowned architect and professor Carlo Baumschlager. Throughout her career, she has worked across the fields of art and architecture using a wide range of media, including video art, artificial intelligence, installation, lighting, digital image, architecture, interactive art, and painting. She has participated in numerous exhibitions, received multiple grants, and taken part in creative residencies across Europe. Her work has been recognized with awards and distinctions.
For two decades, she has combined academic training with professional experience in architecture, design, and art. In the field of architecture, she has worked on large-scale projects within the renowned German practice Steidle Architekten, including Munich Urban Colab (Munich), Kohlenhof (Nuremberg), and the Verlagshaus Gruner + Jahr (Hamburg), contributing to project phases 2 to 5. Through ToDo También, she develops self-initiated architectural and real estate renovation projects that transform existing homes into unique living spaces. The studio combines artistic vision, spatial strategy, and market awareness to create contemporary housing with strong identity, balancing design quality, accessibility, and emotional connection.
As an independent creative within TONDOsmiling, she has developed projects from initial concept to implementation, covering areas such as project management, theoretical research and development, web and graphic design, marketing, curatorial practice, networking, and documentation.
Her approach is based on heterogeneous analysis that generates conceptual mapping at a theoretical level, supported by lateral thinking to construct new mental models that stimulate creativity and enable innovative solutions to specific challenges.
The combination of architecture and art in her work has led to the creation of site-specific projects in which image, light, and architecture function as a unified whole. Her aim is to enrich spaces and urban environments by promoting reflection, altering perspectives of observation and experience, and fostering social interaction.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Spain, India, Finland, Germany, and Austria, as well as art fairs, grants, and artistic residencies throughout Europe (including Art Karlsruhe, Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Artward, and Arteles). Her work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Pinakothek der Moderne (Germany), the Lázaro Galdiano Museum (Spain), the International Moving Image Festival Proyector (Spain), and the International Video Art Festival MADATAC (Spain). Her work has also been accredited by ANECA (Spanish National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation).
